Blue Downs Forest Village Ocean View Township Western Cape South Africa:

The demand for reasonably priced homes in the Western Cape grew rapidly in the 1980's and early 1990's. HHO Africa were appointed by a large private developer to project manage the development of Forest Village as an integral part of the massive Blue Downs housing project. Forest Village provided for 1100 homes with schools ,recreation sites, commercial zones and was completed in four phases.

Among the special features of the project were :

	Clearing and shaping of the windblown sand dunes to form an attractive and rolling landscape
	Compliance with strict stormwater management criteria imposed by the planning authorities. Maximum allowable peak releases were specified
	Economic design of the services having regard to both initial cost and future maintenance
	Phase 1 of the project won the National Association of Home Builders Award for the best residential development

HHO Africa were responsible for the following consulting services:

	Detail design of the overall landforming and shaping
	Design of all the civil engineering services and roads
	Maintaining close relations with the Client and the Development Authority
	Project Management of the whole development with planners, architects, contractors etc
	Contract documentation and tender report
	Negotiation of on-going civil contracts on behalf of the Client
	Construction monitoring and administration
