Rural Village Water Supply Eastern Cape South Africa:
The provision of a safe and unpolluted water supply to rural communities has become a primary focus for Government, private NGO's and international funding agencies. In many instances the villages do not have any piped or safe supply of water. Water has to be collected and carried long distances (usually by women or young children). The sources are unreliable and waterborne diseases are common.
HHO Africa Water Resources division have developed specific expertise in the provision of water to rural communities. The problems encountered are very different from the construction of larger treatment plants and solutions have to be tailored to local conditions and the capabilities of the local people to build and operate them.
