3D Modelling of Transport Projects

In order to visualise and fully comprehend multilevel or interchange proposals it is necessary to model and present them in three dimensions. 

We at HHO, believe that it is highly beneficial for our clients and all stakeholders to fully understand and visualise the transport projects we conceptualise on their behalf. We are experienced in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and work in multidisciplinary teams with architects, developers, planners and other specialists.

  • Public transport terminals (multi-storey)
  • Grade separated structures like interchanges
  • or bus under or overpasses.

We also have the ability to integrate all our micro-simulation software (PTV Vissim) with our 3D models, to provide a 3D animation of a future development and active transport network (vehicles moving on the network).

N3 Hammarsdale Upgrade, KZN, South Africa

The proposed upgrade involves widening of the freeway from 6 lanes to 8 or 10 lanes. Using Autodesk Infraworks, HHO developed an interactive model that visually demonstrated the complexities of the project, displaying the addition lanes, structures, cut and fill treatments and lighting.

Sunrise Circle, Cape Town, South Africa

HHO produced a three dimensional conceptual design of road upgrades proposed at the circle, which incorporated grade separated bus lanes, at grade capacity upgrades to the traffic circle approaches, and a traffic directional ramp, using the Autodesk Infraworks software package.

Century City Development, Cape Town, South Africa

In order to compare the impact (existing vs future) of the new Bridgeways Precinct to the client and other tenants, HHO developed a three dimensional traffic simulation model (VISSIM) of the existing and proposed road network to visually illustrate the impact as predicted for the different peak hours on the road network
